Chevrolet Coupe (1938) - Towards the end of the 1930s Chevrolet excelled in making simple yet rugged cars for the masses, often outnumbering Ford in sales. Their cars became very popular with the hot-rodding fraternity who used them and started off the trend in 'fat fendered' rods which continued with cars built in the late 1940s. Such cars could take major suspension changes and wider tyres without a great deal of bodywork modification and, with their wide engine bays, handled motor transplants with ease too.

This car has been fitted with a Generation V big-block Chevy under the hood and to put all the torque down the rear's been equipped with a pair of 18.5-inch (470mm) wide tyres. A Mustang II front suspension clip has been installed along with airbag springs to alter the ride height whilst giving supreme comfort, and at the back a live axle is located with four links and coilover dampers.

Chevrolet Coupe (1940) Chevrolet Coupe (1940) - When Chevrolet launched their new model in 1940 it was significant. It was their first car to use both plastics and stainless steel, and, interestingly, while being very basic underneath, famous racing driver Juan Manual Fangio managed to win the 6,000-mile (9654km) Gran Primo Internacional Del Norte race in Argentina, South America in a Business Coupe just like this. Chevrolets often come second in popularity to Ford when creating street rods, but not in this case.

This version has had a separate chassis built based on the original rails, with independent A-arm front and Jaguar independent rear suspension. The brakes are large discs all around with powerful four-pot callipers. The engine is a Corvette small-block Chevy with three two-barrel carburettors, which uses the centre carb on light throttle then all three on full throttle. It has all-electric Corvette seats.
